RUSSIAN WARCRIMES in UKRAINE
Picture
Russia's SHOCKING Plan to TURN Ukrainian Kids Against UKRAINE
Picture
Tens of thousands of Ukrainian children have been abducted. And when I say abducted, I'm not using that word loosely. Abducted by Russians, transported away from their families into a foreign country. And they do this propagandizing of these children in order to turn them against Ukraine. And they do it overtly and they do it covertly. And I'm going to show you both means or both methods here in this video. Thank you for joining me and being willing to listen to what I'm talking about here.
And I can't get this out of my head.
Yesterday, 'Jay in Kiev' put this after Trump cut the support for Ukraine. US lawmakers are pressing for action on Russian abductions of Ukrainian children. But 'Jay in Kiev' made this comment, and I think this is present:
"US Congress and its limitless ignorance are demanding Russia return tens of thousands of kidnapped Ukrainian children which is useless because without arming Ukraine, millions more will be abducted by Russians as they press into Ukraine."
Like this is the reality, and this is why this is important.
Okay, so how do they do this?
Anton Gerashschenko talked about the first way, the overt brainwashing techniques, and then I'll show you the covert way in just a moment. So, let's look at this. The story of Vladislav Rodenko, one of Ukraine's teenagers abducted by Russia. Russian troops occupied the city of Herson a week after the full-scale invasion back in February of 2022. They detain hundreds and tortured dozens of people in the city. Then the Russian authorities began to target children. Now, they shouldn't be targeting children, but they are because they realise that they have a demographic crisis. And with that demographic crisis, they're trying to convert Ukrainians into little Russians, or at least Ukrainians into soldiers that will kill other Ukrainians.
In October of 2022, three armed Russian soldiers stormed into the home of 16-year-old Vladislav. They forced him to pack his belongings and board one of the 17 buses filled with Ukrainian children.
They are stealing 17 buses full of Ukrainian children.
Like war crime, after war crime, after war crime, right there, in this one action.
The buses took him to the camp Drusba which means friendship in Russian occupied Crimea. Upon arrival, Russian officers ordered the children to throw away some anything symbolizing Ukrainian identity because they want to stamp the Ukrainian identity out of these Ukrainian children.
Now, Russians, if you watch enough Slovov (in Russian state TV) and other things along those lines, you realize that Russian propagandists see Ukrainians as Russians who have gone astray. They're really Russians. They're not Ukrainians who have adopted this political political philosophy of Ukrainianism and that must either be converted or stamped out and killed.
Vladislav recalled one teenage girl who disobeyed and wore a t-shirt that read, "Glory to Ukraine." Russian officer cut the shirt off of her. According to Vladislav, the children were shown Russian propaganda videos, given lessons about how Moscow's supposed about Moscow's supposed global importance, how Ukraine would soon become part of Russia, and how their Ukrainian identity was being upgraded to a Russian one. Think about that. Upgraded to a Russian one. And they're sincere about this. This isn't like uh being funny or Yeah.
This daily dose of propaganda convinced some Ukrainian children that their families no longer wanted them. How sad is that?
Some even claimed that they didn't want to return home. Vladislavs refused to accept a Russian identity. One evening at dusk, he sneaked outside carefully avoiding camp guards and pulled down the Russian flag. For everything Russian did to my mother, to my family, and to me, they just took it down and I left my underwear up there instead. Got to give him something for having a sense of humor.
Well, this placed him in solitary confinement for seven days when he was caught. They gave him pills that cla claimed it would calm him down. Vladislav flushed him down the toilet. In the spring, Russian authorities transferred Vladislav to a military academy there along with 800 other Ukrainian boys. They're taking 800 Ukrainian children and trying to turn them into 800 Russian soldiers to kill other Ukrainians.
He was trained to handle weapons, operate drones, drive tanks. The officers tried to turn them into Russian soldiers. Before Vladislav could be sent into the battlefield, his mother began working with the Save Ukraine organization. They developed a rescue plan. She traveled thousands of miles. That's not that far, but she had to go a securitous route uh from Ukraine's eastern border to Poland and then north to Belarus through Russia southwest to Lazernne into occupied parts of Ukraine.
When Vladislav's mother arrived at the military camp, Russian officials interrogated her for 3 days, threatening her with 25 years in prison. Why? Because she's coming to see her son and try to get him out. Russian officers demanded that the mother and son record an interview in which they expressed support for the Russian occupation and claimed that they were afraid to return to Ukraine, which was a fabricated lie used as a condition for their release. Now, when you have to make somebody lie, your position is not strong, it's weak, right?
But they're (Russians) doing this left, right, and center. Vladislav and his mother returned home to Herszan in May 2023, 7 months after the teenagers abduction and six months after Ukrainians for Ukrainian forces liberated the city from Russian control. The Ukrainian government estimates about 20,000 have been taken. Russia places the number much higher claiming 700,000. I don't know what it is, but any one Vladislav just one is a tragedy. Look at what they did to him. insisting that these aren't abductions though, but humanitarian efforts offering children a reprieve from war.
Some were supposedly going to summer camps, but then they didn't return. Russian families have illegally adopted some of the children, and they're going to raise them as good Russians to be Russian. Yale humanitarian research lab has identified more than 8,400 children living in at least 57 locations scattered across occupied Ukrainian territory, Russia, and Belarus. Some are in Russian military training centers or worse - fighting.
------------------------------------------
The video continues, and at 06:35 min, more is told about the fate of the children.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine, which has lasted for more than three years, has left no one untouched -  least of all children.
The Russian invasion of Ukraine, which has lasted for more than three years, has left no one untouched -  least of all children. In the midst of the war, a generation is growing up whose childhood is not about safety, play, and learning, but about fear, loss, and uncertainty.
We must not turn ourselves away, but help.

Children's everyday life in war:
  • Children wake up to bombings or sirens.
  • Homes, schools, and playgrounds are no longer safe havens.
  • Human Rights Watch reports that over 3,790 schools and early childhood education institutions have been either damaged or destroyed since February 2022 (including schools, kindergartens, orphanages, etc.).

  • Learning often happens remotely – if there is electricity, the necessary devices, and internet access. Remote learning is lonely; it doesn’t bring friends.
  • Displacement, either within the country or to foreign lands; the child moves away from their community and often lives in isolation, without friends, and abroad there is the additional barrier of a language gap.
  • Trauma: Many children experience insomnia, anxiety, depression, and stress. They have witnessed violence, loss, and experience fear.

  • Learning is fragmented, and planning for the future is nearly impossible. • The war causes anxiety, sleep disorders, isolation, and post-traumatic stress. • Many children have lost their parents or been forced into refugee status.
  • Children often lack food, warmth, clean water, or clean clothes. • Medicine and hygiene products are a luxury for many.
  • Poverty has increased exponentially.

  • When childhood is spent in war, there is no opportunity for a do-over.
  • The threat of human trafficking: Under the cover of war, children are at risk of becoming victims of exploitation or human trafficking.
  • Every day without safety, school, and play leaves a mark.

  • We cannot outsource responsibility to the Ukrainians alone.
  • The effects of the war do not end at national borders. The future of peace will be built on how we treat the most vulnerable – especially the children growing up in the midst of war.
  • A Ukrainian child does not need pity. They need friends, support, care, activities, and hope.
If you are a child of a single parent or an orphan, you already know a bit about this, but have you ever thought about what it would be like to experience all of this in the middle of a war?
Support children's and youth activities, studies, and sports!

Ukraine's Mykolaiv braces for more attacks nine months into conflict
As Russian troops are driven out of Ukrainian territory, cities like Mykolaiv, known for ship-building and manufacturing, are being bombed daily. And as TRT World's Obaida Hitto reports, the attacks have also taken a heavy toll on residents, who are bracing for more to come.

Putin's Attack on Ukraine: Documenting War Crimes (full documentary) | FRONTLINE PBS
“Putin’s Attack on Ukraine: Documenting War Crimes” draws on original footage; interviews with Ukrainian citizens and prosecutors, top government officials and international war crimes experts; and a vast amount of previously unpublished evidence obtained and verified by the AP — including hundreds of hours of surveillance camera videos and thousands of audio recordings of intercepted phone calls made by Russian soldiers around Ukraine's capital city, Kyiv.
From award-winning director Tom Jennings, producer Annie Wong, AP global investigative reporter Erika Kinetz and her AP colleagues, the 90-minute documentary traces a pattern of atrocities committed by Russian troops in Ukraine, focusing on areas near Kyiv, such as Bucha, where some of the most shocking carnage was found.
FRONTLINE and the AP uncovered exclusive evidence that links possible war crimes in Bucha through the chain of command to one of Russia’s top generals — evidence that prosecutors hope might help build a case against Russian President Vladimir Putin in court. But the joint investigation also explores the challenges of trying to hold Putin and other Russian leaders to account.

Russia’s Darkest War Crime Yet: Targeting Ukraine’s Children
Russia is kidnapping Ukrainian children. Not a metaphor. Not a mystery. A war crime.
More than 20,000 Ukrainian children have been taken from occupied territories—sent to "summer camps," renamed, re-educated, and in many cases, erased.
This isn’t rescue. It’s identity theft on a national scale.
Why is the Kremlin doing this? Why are some Western politicians silent—or even complicit?
And what happens to a nation when its future is stolen?

Children of war: Ukraine’s families torn apart by Russia’s invasion
Since Russia invaded Ukraine, hundreds of children have been killed, hundreds more have been injured, and millions have fled.
Ukraine's children have suffered immeasurably since Vladimir Putin’s forces started the conflict, more than 100 days ago. For those families who have stayed, the children live with the reality of war every day, under constant threat from Russian bombing.
We spoke to children who live in the Donbas area about what their lives are like - living on the front line.

Children’s hospital hit by Russian missile attack as 29 killed across Ukraine
Matt Frei: The war in Ukraine has featured heavily in the French elections and although the once pro Russian nationalist right of Marine Le Pen has been kept out of power, President Macron's position as one of Ukraine's staunchest allies has been weakened.
This comes a day before the Nato summit in Washington and it provides the backdrop for one of Russia's most brutal attacks this year. It struck Ukraine with some 40 missiles in a rare daytime aerial attack, killing at least 36 people and badly damaging the country's largest children's medical facility.

Life in Ukraine wartime.
Russia is scrambling to pull its military personnel and citizens out of the city of Kherson ahead of a Ukrainian counter-offensive.
Ukrainian father Dmytro Bahnenko reflects on the months he and his family lived there under occupation and secretly filmed for BBC Eye at great personal risk.
Dmytro, whose day job had been as a local reporter, never thought he'd be filming the invasion of his home city.
Along with his wife Lidia, Dmytro struggles to shelter their five-year-old daughter Ksusha from the war as she increasingly senses the danger around her.
Kherson was the first major city to fall to Russian forces when they invaded Ukraine in February 2022 and he began filming the family's lives when Russian soldiers first marched past their window on 1 March.

A dramatic and intimate look inside the Russian assault on Kharkiv, told by the people living through it. This journalism is made possible by viewers like you. When Russia began its attack on Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, in February of 2022, many people expected the city to fall in days. But the Ukrainians refused to surrender.
Now, a new FRONTLINE documentary tells the story of the battle for Kharkiv through the experiences of those who stayed in the city, despite the ever-present threat of the war. Filmed during the first three months of the war, the documentary chronicles the experiences of people living through Russia’s attack: the displaced families trying to survive underground; the civilians caught in the fight; and the first responders risking their lives to help others.

Ukrainian Factory: two years of war for a Mykolaiv key worker
The film offers a poignant glimpse into the life of Vitalii Velychurov, a key worker in the main bread factory of Mykolaiv, once a frontline city. Russian troops destroyed Mykolaiv's major infrastructure and most of the city's residents have left – including Vitalii's wife and children – but the factory has delivered bread to the besieged population every day since the full scale invasion broke out. Lost in memories of the past and an uncertain future, Vitalii finds solace in the continued rhythm of the factory.
