​Happy World Teachers' Day – October 5th
The work of a teacher is one of the most important professions in the world. It’s not just about sharing knowledge—it’s about guiding the life paths of children and young people, building their future, and strengthening their sense of self. Teachers see each student as a whole human being—with their uniqueness, strengths, and challenges—and help them grow into who they are meant to be.
Teachers also nurture tolerance, empathy, and a sense of community. Now more than ever, the world needs education, acceptance, and peacebuilders—and that is exactly what teachers provide every day.
Today, I especially want to express my deep respect for the teachers of Ukraine.
Your work, carried out amid fear, hardship, and the harsh realities of war, is immeasurably valuable. You keep hope alive. You teach children and young people to believe in the future, even when uncertainty surrounds them. Every day, you are building a new tomorrow for Ukraine—a future that is stronger, brighter, and more humane.
From the bottom of my heart, I wish for peace to come to your country. And when that moment arrives—when darkness fades and good prevails--you, the teachers, will be the true heroes. You will be there to carry your students forward—not just academically, but emotionally and spiritually. This work requires the support of the whole community: teachers, families, coaches, activity leaders—all of us working together.
Together, by supporting one another, you can raise a generation that will carry Ukraine forward with strength and resilience.
Thank you to each and every one of you. I’ve had the great honor of visiting Ukraine, and I promise to stand by your side as long as I—and my projects—have the resources to do so.
Next week, I will send out Information Letter No. 4, and I truly hope to share good news—both about aid supplies and about my next visit to Ukraine.
