World Children & Youth Physical Education Academy (C.Y.P.E.-Academy)
The C.Y.P.E.-Academy was established in 2015 to support the education and physical development of children and youth in crisis areas. From the beginning of its operations (2015–2020), the academy worked in Afghanistan. Its mission was to promote education and physical activity for both girls and boys, in collaboration with schools and sports clubs. The work was carried out under the EVERYBODY IS IMPORTANT project, which was originally launched in Finland on August 21, 1995.
The coordinator of the EVERYBODY IS IMPORTANT project has been Timo Virtanen since its inception on August 21, 1995.
The academy has also partnered with the World Heart Trainers Academy and the World Children & Youth Rights Academy.
In 2020, the academy was forced to withdraw from Afghanistan after the terrorist organization Taliban took over the country. As a result, all three academies ended their activities in Afghanistan, and the EVERYBODY IS IMPORTANT project was suspended.
Operations resumed in 2025, with the relaunch of the EVERYBODY IS IMPORTANT project. In honor of the project’s 30th anniversary, the academy shifted its focus to Ukraine, where a new initiative called SAVE OUR SCHOOLS – S.O.S. in Ukraine was launched on April 18, 2025.
The project will last for at least 10 years. The lead organization is the World Children & Youth Physical Education Academy, in cooperation with the World Heart Trainers Academy and the World Children & Youth Rights Academy. The project is coordinated by the academy’s CEO, Timo Virtanen.
The EVERYBODY IS IMPORTANT project will celebrate its 30th anniversary on August 21, 2025, and the celebration will take place in Ukraine. The event will be jointly organized by the GO FLAMO Athletics Club of Mykolaiv and the World Children & Youth Physical Education Academy.

All trainers of the academy are committed to respecting the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and act to promote the well-being of children and youth.
The academy joined the SAVE OUR SCHOOLS – S.O.S. in Ukraine project starting on April 18, 2025.
The minimum qualification required to be a World Heart Trainer includes achieving one of the following as an athlete or coach:

The World Heart Trainers Academy is a group of special trainers who support and respect Children’s Rights. The trainers come from various countries and have diverse backgrounds in sports, martial arts, and professional child and youth development.
The Academy is one of three “Everybody is Important” academies. The “Everybody is Important” physical education project began in 1995, and in 2015, it proudly celebrated its 20th anniversary.
The Academy does not have a single leader or “Big Boss”. Instead, all trainers sit together at a round table, and in the center of the table lies the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. This book symbolizes the shared commitment of all trainers, who integrate these rights into their trainings, events, and organizations.
From time to time, Academy trainers meet at different events around the world to collaborate and share their experiences.
The Secretary/Coordinator of the Academy is “Tim Power” (Timo Virtanen) from Finland. He helps connect and support the trainers who, in turn, support and advocate for children’s rights.

The academy functions as a media office, aiming to communicate the activities of the projects and academies, and especially to address violations of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. This includes terrorist attacks targeting schools and sports facilities, such as those carried out by the Taliban in Afghanistan between 2015 and 2020.
The academy’s media office also collects information to support the planning and operations of the EVERYBODY IS IMPORTANT and SAVE OUR SCHOOLS – S.O.S. in Ukraine projects in crisis areas.
The academy collaborates with journalists and news agencies, and welcomes news tips about war crimes against children currently occurring in Ukraine.
